2023 Subaru Forester

The new Forester comes in six trim levels, and each one has something special to offer with its exterior features. The base-level trim is appropriately called the Base, and it boasts 17-inch wheels. The Premium trim doesn't upgrade the size of the wheels, but they do come in a black aluminum alloy color with a machined surface. This trim includes ladder-type roof rails and tinted privacy glass. At the Sport trim level, the Forester gains 18-inch alloy wheels and a gloss-black body trim complete with a black rear roof spoiler. Orange accents are also present throughout, including on the Sport badge on the back. Upgrade to the Wilderness to get a more outdoorsy model with 9.2 inches of ground clearance, a unique front fascia, and hexagonal LED fog lights. Meanwhile, the Limited trim boasts body-color mirrors with integrated turn signals and gray-trimmed fog lights. Finally, the Touring features chrome-trimmed LED fog lights and chrome exterior folding mirrors.

While the Forester has only one engine option, it offers all the power you'll need. It's a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. Most versions of the Forester pair with a continuously variable automatic transmission with an all-wheel-drive system to maximize control and efficiency. The Wilderness trim offers more off-road capabilities.

If you plan to take your Subaru Forester on an adventure, towing capacity is one of its most important features. The Wilderness model can tow up to 3,000 pounds when properly equipped. All other models have a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. Additionally, the Forester is equipped with active torque vectoring, which makes taking turns easy.

Inside the Forester, you'll find plenty of room for passengers and cargo alike. The front seat offers 43.3 inches of legroom, while rear passengers get 39.4 inches of legroom. Behind the second row of seats, you'll find 28.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which is impressive considering the SUV seats five comfortably. Fold the rear seats down, and you get a 74.2-cubic-foot capacity. All 2023 Forester trims come standard with Subaru's STARLINK multimedia system. It includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, wireless Bluetooth, navigation, and a touchscreen display with voice command.

The 2023 Subaru Forester's safety features are comprehensive and advanced, including lane-departure warning, accident avoidance, and a pre-collision and post-collision safety system. This SUV also features traction control, emergency braking assist, and adaptive headlights. The standard EyeSight package of driver assist technologies includes emergency automatic steering and an available distraction mitigation system. The engine immobilizer is also standard on all models.
