Navigating Subaru’s Warranty: What Services Are Covered?

Your Subaru not only has the sleek lines, advanced technology, and fuel efficiency that make it one of America’s favorite vehicles but also has an outstanding warranty. Your Subaru warranty protects you against the unlikely event of any issue with the labor or materials used to build your vehicle. As your San Jose Subaru dealer, we want to tell you about some of the coverage you enjoy with your warranty. 

New Vehicle Limited Warranty

This warranty covers the majority of systems and components in your Subaru. If any defect covered by warranty is discovered, the situation will be speedily recertified by Subaru-trained technicians using only Subaru-approved replacement parts. Warranty coverage applies throughout the US and will be performed by any authorized dealer.

Warranty coverage is excluded in certain situations, as any damage caused is not due to a manufacturing issue. Accidental damage, unauthorized repairs, and normal maintenance are some of the exclusions, all of which are listed in your warranty handbook. This warranty applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Seatbelt Lifetime Limited Warranty

Your seatbelts and seatbelt system are protected for the lifetime of your Subaru, and any manufacturing-related problem will be fixed. Cosmetic issues, like seatbelt color fading over time, are not covered by warranty.

Powertrain Limited Warranty

The powertrain consists of your vehicle’s most essential systems, namely the engine, transmission, transaxle, and differentials. All covered components are listed in your warranty handbook. Protected components include your engine, water pump, torque converter, wheel bearings, and axle shafts. Coverage applies for five years or 60,000 miles.

Wear Item Limited Warranty

Your original brake pads, clutch linings, and wiper blades are protected by warranty for three years or 36,000 miles.

Rust Perforation Limited Warranty

Your Subaru body metal panels are protected against rust and corrosion by specialized rust-inhibiting materials applied during the manufacturing process. These materials don’t require reapplication. If rust-through appears, which is defined as rust that forms from the inside out of a panel, the panel will be replaced at no charge. Coverage applies for five years and unlimited mileage.

California Emissions Control System Warranties

Combustion produces various dangerous and corrosive chemicals. The emissions control system converts these chemicals into less dangerous ones before they leave the tailpipe to reduce air pollution. Your Subaru emissions control system meets the high standards required for an emissions control system in California.

Most emissions system components are covered for three years or 50,000 miles. Some components, like the catalytic converter, have extended coverage that applies for seven years or 70,000 miles.
