2023 Subaru Ascent

Test-driving the 2023 Subaru Ascent on different road surfaces, on the highway, and in the city can give you the best idea of whether this family-friendly, safety-conscious vehicle is right for you. Read on to learn about the six different trim levels, including the new Onyx Edition Limited, to help you consider which trims you’d be most interested in trying out.

Basic & Premium

The 2023 Basic Subaru Ascent 8-seater provides a long list of standard features to keep you and your family safe and solid during any driving condition. There’s the X-Mode system with hill descent, plus the EyeSight Safety system with rear seat check reminder, adaptive cruise control, lane assists, and auto braking. Basic trim standard features also include 18-inch wheels, LED headlamps, black roof rails, a 5,000-pound towing capacity, and sturdy cloth seating.

A standard 11.6-inch touchscreen for the tri-zone climate control and the 6-speaker infotainment system is a new addition to the Basic 2023 Ascent. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Sirius XM Satellite radio are also included in the Basic model.

Premium Safety & Seating

If you step up to the Premium model, you can keep the 8-passenger seating configuration or go for captain’s chairs in the second row for a 7-seater vehicle. You’ll also get additional safety features as standard in the Premium Subaru Ascent, such as rear cross-traffic monitoring, auto emergency steering, and blind spot assists. An 8-way power driver seat, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel may also be features you’d like to test.

Limited & Onyx Edition

The Subaru Limited Ascent builds from the Premium trim and adds heated rear seats, a driver’s memory seat, power front passenger seating, 20-inch deep gray wheels, and a back door sunshade. The Onyx’s additions give the base Premium model 20-inch black wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a power rear liftgate, and a handy push-button start keyless entry system.

New Onyx Edition Limited

The brand new Onyx Edition Limited Ascent trim for 2023 is worth considering if a Cabin Connect intercom system seems useful for your family or if you’d like a 360-degree camera or a premium navigation cluster display. If you choose this model to test-drive, you could also listen to some music on the 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system that comes standard with this trim.

Touring 2023 Subaru Ascent

The Touring trim adds premium leather seating and ventilated front seats as standard features. You also get a front 180-degree camera and a rear-view mirror with a digital-display camera. If you test-drive the Touring model, consider trying the ambient lighting to see how you like the vehicle’s atmosphere and ‘feel’ with this feature.
